Welcome to my personal website! I am a researcher at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and the Instituto de Tecnología Química (ITQ-CSIC) in Spain, where I am a Santiago’s Grisolía Fellow.
My research lies at the intersection of materials science, green chemistry, and renewable energy. I am particularly interested in designing and characterizing advanced catalytic materials to address pressing environmental and energy challenges.
Recent Work
My most recent projects focus on the application of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and other nanostructured materials for sustainable energy applications. This includes:
- Green Hydrogen Generation: Exploring photocatalytic water splitting using doped MOF structures (e.g., Ti-Squarate MOFs) to achieve high-efficiency hydrogen production under visible light.
- CO₂ Utilization: Developing innovative catalytic and photo-thermal processes for CO₂ reduction to value-added chemicals like methanol and methane.
- Cluster Strain Engineering: Inducing structural reactivity in titanium frameworks to significantly enhance catalytic performance.
Other Research Topics
Beyond photocatalysis and MOFs, my background encompasses various environmental technologies, including:
- Biomass & Bio-oil Valorization: Synthesizing hierarchically porous carbons and magnetic acid catalysts from bio-oil for wastewater treatment (removing emerging contaminants) and esterification reactions.
- Desulfurization Technologies: Scaling up green technologies for biogas desulfurization and sulfide oxidation, including the development of nitrogen-doped carbonaceous materials and the “Zaoki” catalyst, taking academic research from the bench to the market.
